  Looking for recommendations for any plumber/heat person who can work on our oil heat system. We have had no heat since the very early hours of New Year's Eve. At least one of our radiator pipes is broken and we've had to turn our water off at the main to prevent it from pouring water out. Have a 3 & 5 year old. Any advice appreciated.

  Can anyone recommend a plumber who is particularly adept at detective work and problem-solving? For awhile now we've had a problem where the water from the cold taps all over the house comes out hot for a few moments, then warm, and never really seems gets as cold as it should. One plumber we called was completely stumped, and another said it would cost about $1400 and a hole in a wall just to test a hypothesis he wasn't that convinced by. So if you have had a good experience with a plumbing detective, I'd like to hear about it...
