Can anyone give me ideas on best place to stay in Fiji? Thinking mainland for a few days then a nice island for a week good for kids with great snorkellling, diving etc.. And a good travel agent on the sunny coast??

I've stayed at the Shangri-La and The Warwick on the mainland. Both great and very touristy - self-enclosed resorts, lots of kids activities and daily programs. Then we went over to Mololo Lalai island and stayed at "Musket Cove" which was a lovely quiet, relaxing place to stay. It was more like being part of a village as we had our own bure's and you walk or cycle around the place. There is a marina on the island, so there is a shop, laundry, cafe you can use, or restaurant in the resort. There are kayaks, snorkelling, day trips, great pool and it's quiet and relaxing. On the other side of the island is the party animal "Plantation Resort". Much busier, lots of kids, lots of activities, discos, parties - good if you like noise and activity. But you can even stay in the quiet side and walk over to the busy one if you want a different restaurant/disco/crab races/party time. I thoroughly recommend Jan McLeod, a travel agent who works from home in Nambour. She is amazing, very helpful, very informative and will get you a much better deal - JAN McLEOD Mobile Travel Consultant Office: 82 PETRIE CREEK ROAD, ROSEMOUNT, QLD. 4560 Phone: 07 5441 6412 Fax: 07 5441 2912 Mobile: 0406 388 217 Email: janmcleodtravel@westnet.com.au
