  My son had enjoyed lessons with Rory of Fr. Surf (805) 477-8095. He teaches to kids in small groups and also bands. He's super with the kids, has been teaching in a lot of the private schools, and sets up gigs frequently for all his "kid bands" to play in public. A really fun and social approach to learning, perhaps not very formal, but very enjoyable for my son.
