Hello, can anyone point me in the direction of any groups for children with cerebral palsy in Pensacola? Trying to get info for a military spouse who is moving into the area soon. Thanks in advance!

Hi Lisa - feel free to pass on my name & contact info to your friend. I'm the Navy EFMP liaison here. If she's not part of EFMP, she really should be! I am trying to hold support & networking events for our families, & if a playgroup is something folks are interested in, I'd be more than happy to make that happen. We try not to do disability-specific events, but all of our events are inclusive (meaning they are geared towards EFMP enrollees & individuals with special needs, but all are welcome). We've done sensory friendly movies in the past & meet & greets at the NAS Pensacola Firehouse. Our next big event is a back-to-school resource fair at the end of July. My office line is 850.505.6822 & my office is located in the Naval Hospital Pensacola directly across from the pharmacy. Have your friend get in touch with me!
A friend is wanting to begin the process of getting her son evaluated for ASD. She has military insurance. Where does she start? Any suggestions?

Ayako Oscar what branch are you guys? I'm the Navy EFMP liaison & I can help you figure it out. If they tried to send you guys to Eglin then Mobile then MS it sounds like they're looking for a developmental pediatrician (which we don't have many of...as you're probably finding out). Give me a call on Tuesday at 850-505-6822 or stop by NHP. If you end up traveling there may be travel reimbursement as well through Tricare - we can go poke the Tricare guru we have & ask if you end up wanting to do that.
