  Good morning Chicken folks! My friend's chicken was attacked by a bird of prey yesterday. The hen is alive but injured & she can't find a vet that can help her. Thought I'd check with you guys since there's a lot of chickening going on in the hood. Any advice?

  I'm surprised the hawk left without finishing the deed. Avian Exotics Center, may be the only vet that will treat chickens. Most won't. I know Dr Lutz at Westmeade Animal Clinic is an accomplished and thorough Avian vet and surgeon. Also a really good human being. He does domestic bird and wild raptor care, But I'm not sure if they treat chickens or not. Give them a call, 615-356-1152

Me and my boyfriend tried going to the banfield in the Gresham Petsmart and got bad information from a vet who didn't really seem like she knew what she was talking about...Long story short his "tumor" ended up being a cyst that popped and now we're in need of medical care again.   I posted this on the chat page and all of the responses were fantastic! unfortunately none of the vets that were suggested were willing to help. I have a rat that is just about three and has a very bad tumor with another growing, and it is turning into an open wound. although she is still eating and drinking I know it is going to get worse and she is not very comfortable any more and the last thing I want is for her to be in pain. I have called multiple vets and animal outreach programs to have her euthanized for free (I really don't have the funds to pay to have it done but I can't let her either away and be in pain) are there any programs or does anyone know a vet that can help. the tumor has tripled In size the last week or so. she has lived a lovely life but I fear it is her time. any contacts to help would be greatly appreciated.
