Water service line depth, location? Does anyone here know how residential water service lines tended to be installed say, I don’t know, 40 years ago? My main water line enters the house about 14” below ground level, that much I know. But that seems awfully shallow to me.
I need to dig an 18” hole to plant a tree, and I don’t have the foggiest idea where the water line goes between the meter and my house (pretty sure it’s not a straight line), or at what depth.
