  Taking any and All Recommendations What's up, Springfield. I'm moving in this month, and I've got some time to get acquainted with the city and surrounding area before I start a new job here. I'm looking for any and all recommendations, reviews, and tips for everything from internet providers, to local cafes, to restaurants to check out or avoid, best wing spot, burger spot, fun shops, parks, rec centers, gyms, etc Any information on all things Springfield is welcome! Edit: thanks for all the info yall!! This is awesome. Best way to learn about a city is from the locals lol. Keep it coming if you got any more!! Hot takes also welcome

  Internet provider will depend on your location. I only have Comcast as an option. Downtown has a variety of bars and restaurants... shops close pretty early though as a good chunk of downtown is government or medical buildings The mall is dying ...as is a lot of major retail around here. There’s definitely a resurgence of smaller, local businesses though, especially downtown Westwood’s for the best wings imo Check out http://illinoistimes.com. Good local content and their event calendar is usually full of stuff to do. Also.... go to Darcy’s Pint and get a Horseshoe. White cheese. We’re also coming up on the state fair which is a fairly big deal once a year.

  How many had the pleasure of eating at one of the top bakeries in Springfield? Rekners Bakery at 12th and Reynolds. Their dinner rolls were eaten in many of the restaurants in town. They cooked their breads cookies, rolls and butter cakes (which were the best any where) fresh everyday. If you lived in that area or went to school at Palmer, it was hard trying to study when they were literally right across the street less than 70 yards. and the aroma was all in the school. Some of us were privileged to be able to go in the rear in the evening when the items were coming out of the ovens..smoking hot!
