  There is one in Elgin that has been helping for 40 years. http://www.crisiscenter.org/# Be careful about going to churches for dv help. Churches tend to blame the victim of domestic violence by saying it takes 2 to fight. Which is wrong. It only takes 1 to be a bully and beat up on others. Also, churches do not have specialized training in domestic violence. Batterers are very good at manipulating others and trying to blame their victims. Domestic violence shelters know better, have heard it all before and you and your children will be much safer there.

  If you live in Kane County Elgin, Elgin Township may be able to help. If you live in Cook County, Elgin, Hanover Township may be able to help. You can also try the Community Crisis Center. They have economic assistance programs and can be reached at 847-697-2380. They also can direct you to other resources. Good luck.
