I am looking for a nice place for a kids friendly weekend getaway any suggestions?

http://www.bernheim.org The weekend of Oct. 17-18 is Colorfest at Bernheim Forest (about 40 minutes outside of Louisville; about 2.5 hours from Florence). Lots of kid-friendly activities, plus several hiking trails. I know they have a lodge, but may be pricey and probably full--but I'm sure you can find nearby hotels. Admission to Colorfest is $5/car.
Heading to Louisville KY for the weekend and would like some suggestions as to where to stay and what to see. Some of the campgrounds in the Louisville area have some BAD reviews.

Cave city is south of Louisville. http://bernheim.org is the nature preserve . Do you want to do city or outdoor touring?
Does anyone have any exact locations (near Louisville) on where I could go to shoot the milky way on a clear night?
Don S. replied:
The Milky Way is visible from Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest., in Bullitt County, about 30 minutes south of Louisville. I am their astronomer and I do a monthly Sky Watch. The park closes at sunset, but my night programs run to midnight in the summer. There is a fee of $12 for nonmembers. The best dates are the program in July, August, and September for the Milky Way. We are having a very special Summer Solstice program where the program will be all night long. The fee for non-members is $30. For more information on this and my other programs check http://bernheim.org/
