I'm going to be in Chinatown area today and would like recommendations on the best Asian Vegan places are in that area? (Downtown and near Safe Co Fields).

Here's a question I bet isn't asked very often...Does anyone know where I can get fresh water chestnuts? NOT canned. I tried Country Aire but they don't carry.
Marolee S. replied:
Uwajimaya in Seattle always has them. You can take a quick trip to Victoria and the "chinatown" street has several grocers that often have them. http://www.uwajimaya.com/
ISO fresh turmeric for juicing and high quality matcha (green tea ground into a powder). Trader Joe's doesn't carry these and said I need a natural food store
Sarah K. replied:
Matcha at http://www.uwajimaya.com/ and I'd hedge you might get turmeric that way as well...
Does anyone know where the closest asian food market is at SPU?
Susan L. replied:
Uwajimaya www.uwajimaya.com is a big Asian market that is a 20 minute bus (#17) ride away from SPU. Safeway, Metropolitan Market and Whole Foods, that are 5 minutes from campus also have Asian food aisles that sometimes have what I need.
