  Call the distress line at 613-722-6914 and ask to speak to someone on the mobile crisis team - It’s a mental health team with the Ottawa hospital for mental health. Things can get so much better. Hang on.

  Start with your family doctor to get a referral to see a psychiatrist. They, in my opinion, can help with the proper meds as well as proper counseling. A psychiatrist is covered by OHIP. I believe there is a Catholic Family counciling service but you can probably get the details of where it is by googling it or calling the Crisis line.

Also: I would talk to your GP about it, and let your GP know about your financial situation there are many options that require referrals from a doc. Hope you get the help you need.

  If you are employed, the EAP program (which many employers have access to, but I'm not sure if they ALL do) is a decent tool. Your employer has no access to what/when/who you see, either. If you're not, there are resources through ODSP and OS that can hook you up, but it is a huge hassle of paper work and waiting. If you have a GP, as may have said, go to them and get a referral. Depending on the severity of your need, waitlists can be anywhere from 3 weeks to 1 year, which sucks. If you have no GP, walk-in clinics will also give you referrals. Appletree has a new mental health specific building, but I'm not sure where it is (around downtown somewhere, I think?) If you run into an emergency, PLEASE call the crisis line, or go to your nearest emerg. They will likely want to keep you for 24-72 hours for assessment, but you will walk out with a psych, a prescription if needed, and usually, an appointment booked at the Royal.
