  Does anyone know of a local book appraiser? I have books from the 1800's from Rudyard Kipling; Thornton Wilder (signed); Uncle Remus, etc. Know they are not worth a bundle as their condition is "good" but not new. I went on internet but it's hard to tell. Would rather take them somewhere local. Handed down to us but our kids aren't interested. Time to "make some room." Thanks!

BE CAUTIOUS OF AUCTION COMPANIES THAT ADVERTISE TO APPRAISE YOUR BOOKS In some cases auction companies, in an effort to have collectors consign merchandise to them, will over-value the items. Be very cautious in having an auction company or bookseller value your books. It's always best to have someone appraise your books who is experienced and who also has no conflict of interest regarding your collection. I do not purchase or attempt to purchase any books that I appraise. Always retain an appraiser who follows this practice.
