  Erica T. wrote: My sister and I have never been to the Essence festival in New Orleans so instead of us trying blindly book a trip in a city we've never been to, we relied on Neptune travel group. The company advertised the trip on their website www.neptunetravelgroup.com, Facebook and on their eventbrite. It was advertised as $500 per person, with double occupancy being required, for the hotel and $600 for the coach bus ride from Atlanta to NO. On May 19, I received an email stating there was not enough people who booked so they couldn't offer the coach bus. This was far too late to book an affordable plane ticket so they gave us a refund for the bus portion. This was a total inconvenience because unbeknown to us, we have to pay twice as much for a rental car and parking. We arrived to our hotel in the WORST part of the Old, dirty, stink, run down, broken down French Quarters. From the amount we paid, $1000, we thought we booked a four star hotel since that's how Neptune advertised it. The hotel isn't barely two stars. We checked into our double room only to be disappointed again. It's barely big enough for one person, let alone two. The room was the size of a dorm room and the toilet moved every time you used it. It was the worst thing I had seen in my life. Now being that we booked an Essence festival trip, we were under the false impression that we would be within the areas where events were going on since again, this is our first time and we are new to N.O. WRONG. We were so far from everything it wasn't funny. There wasn't even a restaurant at the hotel so if we were hungry, we had to walk a few blocks. We couldn't drive anywhere because again, we were unaware that parking was $30/day, something that should have been told to us by Neptune. We didn't get to participate in any of the events because we were unaware of anything that was going on, because again, we received NO itinerary from Neptune. On the last day of our trip, I decided to ask the hotel front desk clerk the nightly rate per room. We were told the rate is $125/night excluding taxes. I was floored. I told the older lady that we paid $500 per person and she was floored. She said no hotel in that area is no where near $500 per person abs they do not charge per person rates at the hotel anyway. I even verified the rate on bestwestern.com to ensure I wasn't being mislead again. And just like the front desk clerk stated, the website indicated only $125/night. The entire trip was a rip off. I am very upset that we were charged $1000 for a room that totaled no more $400 with taxes for three nights. I want a refund of $500 ASAP. DO NOT TRUST NEPTUNE TRAVEL GROUP. They're busy using other people's money to live a rich lifestyle while middle class clients like myself have to work hard and save in order to afford to travel.
