The world of art, food, and cake decorating has been in my life since I was born. My mother was a volunteer art teacher at our school and was also an amazing cake decorator. I remember being the only nosey one out of my siblings trying to "help out" my mother cake decorate by holding the mixer while I stick my finger in the bowl, unsanity...but delicious! (Don't worry, by the time we were born she retired and those cakes were for family, sorry fam). But little did I know this was soon going to be my career.
As the years went by and the only subject in school I got an "A" was in art class, I always looked forward to going home and making food. My brothers and his friends use to always bug me to make these cheapo oven toaster sandwiches that I swore were better than Quizno's, and that's when I knew I wanted to work with food.
My first job was a bus boy (boring) then evolved to a dishwasher which I actually loved, not so much now, and finally I got to get my hands on food as a prep, then a line cook. But that wasn't enough for me. I wanted to express myself and show off my love for art as well. Then I remembered, CAKE!!!
I went to the San Diego Culinary School and took the Baking and Pastry Arts program and well, here I am!
Been making cakes since 2005, and love it doing it. Cake is the best canvass I can ever ask for. Buttercream, fondant, royal icing, and food coloring are the best meduims!
