Creating a better kitchen remodeling experience
CliqStudios.com began as a vision to make it easier for homeowners to update, refresh and remodel their kitchens. The age-old and burdensome kitchen remodeling process of finding an expert design resource, selecting materials and finishes, coordinating contractors, accommodating subcontractors, arranging for permits, and living in a construction zone is too much for many homeowners to manage on their own. In fact, surveys suggest that as many as 50 percent of consumers who begin to explore kitchen remodeling drop out of the process in the first 30 days because it is too overwhelming to contemplate tearing out and replacing the heart of their home.
Andy Juang, a software engineer who was already a successful entrepreneur with several technology companies, knew the kitchen remodeling process didn’t have to be so burdensome. The key to Andy’s success in the technology industry was his natural affinity for improving processes and optimizing efficiency. “From a very young age,” Andy says, “I looked for ways to re-engineer processes to work better and give better results.” When he began remodeling his own home, he was surprised at the inefficiency and high cost in the process. “Why couldn’t the experience be better?” Andy asked. “The costs were outrageous, the timelines were slow-moving and as a consumer the experience was very frustrating.” It was time to re-think the process.
Andy believed that if consumers had a choice where they could find the style they want, consult with an expert and lower those outrageous costs, then many buyers would jump at the opportunity. A team was assembled, drawing on seasoned veterans from three of the five largest cabinet manufacturers, to re-engineer and modernize the entire cabinet-buying experience. The team’s goal: To help homeowners get the designer kitchens they wanted through a friendly process that ultimately would save both time and money.

looked out at how the cabinet industry went to market, it became clear that consumers were changing their buying habits. Consumers were taking charge of their own product research, using the internet and other media to find value in many product categories. In response, the company launched a digital storefront where they could interact with homeowners and industry professionals directly. CliqStudios.com was born.
The CliqStudios mission was clear right from the start. As the dramatic before-and-after photos began to stream in from consumers delighted with the results of their remodels, the CliqStudios team dedicated itself to improving homes across the country, one kitchen at a time. This mission was received with great success. Consumer tastes had shifted, driving the market for affordable, upscale kitchen amenities such as gleaming hardwood floors and granite countertops. CliqStudios found that consumers are looking for high-quality, fashionable cabinetry to pair with those amenities.
Although many cabinetry resellers had launched competitive web-based businesses, CliqStudios emerged as the only US manufacturer to master the factory-direct-to-consumer business model. Two critical components to the CliqStudios model stood out as essential to its success. First, the company relied on a quick, robust and disciplined supply chain that was able to deliver affordable, high-quality products on time. Second, the company kept a laser-sharp focus on consumer needs, offering free samples and a free design service to provide expert-level assistance with the planning and selection of new kitchens.
As any homeowner who has completed a remodeling project knows, not all design services are created equal. Retailers and dealers struggle to attract and keep top design talent. As part of its customer-focused business model, CliqStudios set out from the beginning to hire skilled and knowledgeable design professionals. Just a phone call away, the CliqStudios designer serves as a project partner with the homeowner, prepared to offer guidance and advice through every step of the remodeling process.
This commitment to expert design assistance resonated with buyers. Demand was so great that CliqStudios’ manufacturing operations quickly outgrew their facilities. With careful consideration for reducing the shipping time from the factory to homeowners, a new facility in Connersville, Indiana was opened in spring 2014. This 1.5 million square foot facility gave the company all the warehousing, milling, finishing, and assembly space it needed.
Today CliqStudios is growing to be a preferred national brand of cabinets. The company is poised for future growth and to be the online authority for researching and buying kitchen cabinets. Their commercials can be seen on HGTV and the DIY Networks. The CliqStudios.com website has become a resource for homeowners, who take advantage of an extensive collection of how-to videos and guides hosted on the site. But above all, the CliqStudios.com team loves how often their thousands of happy customers refer them to relatives, neighbors, and friends. show more
