I'm not really sure where to start, but my son was diagnosed with HFA, a couple of weeks ago. Who would I contact in regards to connecting with other parents, and attending meetings or socials in the area? Thank you.

Welcome Miranda. We offer many support groups each month. They are broken down by ages for the most part but whatever time/place is most convenient for you, you are welcome to attend any/all of them. We also offer once a month a free parent education meeting which will be on a variety of topics. Also we have a free Newly Diagnosed Workshop available each month as well. You can find all of our support groups/meetings/workshops listed on our page here under the events tab (March events will be added shortly). Also if you contact our office and speak with the staff we can get you on our mailing/email list and you can keep up to date with whats going on as well. 910-826-3004/3005.
We will be moving to Fort Bragg in June & have three daughters with ASD, ages 15, 11 and 4. Looking for advice about the on-post schools or what areas I should be looking to rent a house off-post to get them in good schools. We have lived in Hawaii for 3 yrs and Atlanta for 2.5 yrs prior to that and have had HORRIBLE school experiences. I need to get these kids in good schools that will take care of their needs. I also need advice on ABA providers through ECHO if anyone has any info to share. Thanks!

Jessica, if you have a chance give our office a call in the morning and we can get a resource guide sent out to you before you get to town. The staff can also answer your questions about ABA or at least direct you to who you need to contact on base for that information. I am personally not familiar with the on base schools but anyone on the page that would like to comment - feel free! As far as off base schooling goes, there are schools of choice here -which means you can choose to send your kids to a particular school; also if any of your children are in self-contained classes, they may not necessarily go to the exact school where you live - in that same district. What that means is you may not necessarily HAVE to find a house in the same district of the school you want your kids to attend. But like I said, to get more detailed info please give our office a call and speak with Heidi. She will be happy to help. 910-826-3004/3005.
