Does anyone know of contractors in Salt Lake that are familiar with passive solar home improvements? Active solar seems quite a bit easier to find, maybe I'm not looking correctly...

Most passive solar technologies, larger windows, orientation of the home, and building materials are implemented in the building of the home and are not often done as retrofits. However, anyone specializing in energy efficiency retrofits can address passive solar improvements. I think that the root of the difficulty is that these folks may not refer to the improvements as "passive solar" simply because that term is a design term though the retrofitter would likely be perfectly happy to do the work. A company who specializes in energy efficiency and remodeling would be a good place to start. I'd recommend having a conversation with our good friends Jason and Brad at http://www.dwelltek.com/
