  Where are places to go bargain furniture shopping besides IKEA? IKEA has been my go-to for furniture so it's all I know. But the lines are at least 30 minutes outside of most LA stores and a lot of inventory is out of stock so I'm looking elsewhere. I have tried Target and Lowe's for basic stuff like shelves and home goods but they don't have a lot of inventory or selection. Any places people can recommend to see furniture in person around LA? I'm talking in the same price range of IKEA. My backup plan is online shopping but that isn't as helpful to getting a sense of the furniture quality and usefulness as in store shopping.

  Check out [Hotel Surplus](http://www.hotelsurplus.com/), they're primarily there for public resale, have a large selection, and good prices. a friend got some stuff through them that was way nicer than what he was finding at Thrift Shops at around the same price.

  If you get into the Valley, this place near the Van Nuys airport is the best I've seen: [Hotel Surplus Furniture](http://hotelsurplus.com/). DON'T LET THE NAME STOP YOU! Only some of their stuff is used hotel items, much more of it is BRAND NEW, wholesale prices, of the exact same stuff you see for twice as much in every furniture shop in town (so not amazing quality, but workable).
