  Jetti M. wrote: I trusted the care of my American bully puppy to Melbourne Preppy Pets at 4045 Dow Road in Melbourne, Florida. One of the BIGGEST mistakes of my life! We were on a carnival cruise the first week of December 2017 and wanted a boarder that had pet cam so that we can see our puppy playing with the group of other puppies while at port in our destinations. We left on a Saturday and on Monday morning we called for a status update. The person told us that everything was going great and our dog was having an awesome time and was interacting well with the other puppies, which we saw evidence of on the pet cam during brief moments of service availability on the cruise in port in Dominica Republic. A couple of hours later, they called and said “there's been an incident.” They told us that our dog got into a fight and their staff member tried to intervene and allegedly got bitten badly by my puppy, who's NEVER bitten anybody before and gets along well with our kitten, dogs at the dog park at home in VA and small children, etc. The owner then got on the phone and threaten legal action and wanted the number to my credit card company to charge my credit card for his staff members doctor bills! When we told him that he should have insurance in place, not to mention the fact that his employee should've been trained to not put her hand in between two dogs fighting, he told us that he would send our dog to animal control where he would be under a 10-day Quarantine and subject to euthanasia. Needless to say, my wife was hysterical, my children were sad and crying and we still had five days left on a cruise we no longer cared about. We called animal control and spoke to Debra, whom then called on our behalf—with us on silent 3 way--and informed Preppy Pet that they should have appropriate insurance in place and we should not be liable for their employees erroneous mistake that led to her injury. Also, the assigned officer stated to me a couple of days later after his investigation that he informed the owner that his employee only received “a minor bite”, that Preppy Pets should have the appropriate insurance in place for such instances, should've been better trained to handle such dog issues, and that we were not personally responsible for the situation and to rest assured that our dog wouldn't be deemed a Dangerous Animal. Furthermore, the owner's wife told Animal Services rep (Debra) that they no longer wanted to keep or dog in their facility, to which Animal Services forced them to keep him there until we returned back from the cruise. We just picked him up (Dec 10th) and saw NUMEROUS scratches/bite makes all over his head!!! Funny how they didn't report the numerous injuries he incurred but were quick to try to SCAM us out of money to pay their staff's medical bill even though that person obviously had no clue how to prevent--or safely stop--a dispute amongst dogs that they personally vouched as safe playmates!!! Also, owner said that he had video of the incident to show our dog at fault and that he would send it, to which we happily told him to do so as we just knew there was no way he unprovoked bit a human or dog. We even pleaded for the assigned animal control officer to get the video to prove he likely wasn't the aggressor. Days later, owner still hasn't provided video and cowardly wasn't present when we arrived, as we expected him to. Obviously didn't want us to see the video for some reason, huh? These people have NO IDEA HOW TO PROPERLY BOARD AND SUPERVISE SEVERAL DOGS AT ONCE. Please do NOT make the same mistakes that we did. Melbourne Preppy Pets is a HORRIBLE, UNSAFE, CLUELESS OPERATION. If I can post pics, you will see several lacerations across his right temple, cuts in his right ear, and cuts under both eyes; picked him up skinnier than when I left, matted fur, bliss shot eyes and panting desperately for water. See the pics of my dogs injuries as a warning if you still are on the fence...don't say nobody warned you when you dropped your fur baby off to these people. God bless.
