  Cheap Dentist? I don't have dental insurance until Jan 1st. But I have a problem tooth and went to the dentist earlier. It's gone. I was quoted around $600 to have it pulled and almost cried. That is an expense that could mean the difference between eating and not. When I had problems before I applied for MAP because I was unemployed and homeless. But I make like $30 over the limit now to qualify. Does anyone know of a place that could pull a tooth for a pretty reasonable price?

  Check out manosdecristo.org, they’re a non-profit that can possibly help your extraction. Reached out to someone I know who works there and they said Initial exam is $40 and anywhere from $100 for simple extraction or up to $200 for surgical extraction. Hopefully that helps out

  I had the same issue. I went to diamond dental. It was 250 per tooth. For me it was 500 because it was both my front teeth. They did a really good job. I don't think manos de Cristo will help because what you want fixed is considered cosmetic. It's your front teeth though, it's worth the price of a cell phone to not look like you were permanently punched in the face.

  Manos de Cristo is a solid choice if funds are tight. Most offices will see you if you don't have insurance, so do some research and go to someone reputable. Don't go to a chain like Castle or Monarch. Ask about cash discounts.

Also see if you qualify for Texas Medical Assistance Program (MAP): http://www.medicalaccessprogram.net/do-i-qualify/ If you do, there's several clinics in town. I know CommUnity Care in North Austin does dental services and almost no cost, however the range of services is limited- they cannot do crowns.

  I would like to let the hood know about an option for those without dental insurance. Manos de Cristo is a nonprofit near by (close to 51 st and IH-35) that has a low-cost dental center along with other services such as adult education and a basic needs program. You can receive quality care at very low prices and way cheaper than going to a private dental clinic. In fact, I just had two cavities filled there last week and had a great experience.
