'm not an expert by any means, my entire smithing career consists of a few spotwelds, some soldering and a lump of copper I melted a few days ago, and have hammered on to get a feel for hammered copper, whether it is 'for me' or not. I'm actually very attracted to the little lump, though, and I feel 'hooked'. It has a beauty such as is intrinsic to freshly minted coins, I have looked at it at high magnification, and it feels like being in the presence of magic. Good luck to you, I will be following this thread for advice too.
