A good family friend (I’ve always seen her as my “aunt”) had emergency surgery to repair a hernia on Friday. This is the third time this has happened, and due to that and other circumstances, she is unable to hold a regular job—she cuts hair, but does so on her own. She lives here in Wauconda in a mobile home. The problem is, the AC in her mobile home is broken, and they won’t allow her to have a window unit. It has been broken for at least a couple of years now, but due to her low income, she hasn’t been able to have it looked at to see what needs to be done to fix it (she knows she can’t afford to have it fixed). She is currently still in the hospital—we’re not sure when she’ll be getting out, but with the weather, she is going to need air conditioning. I’m a college student and there is no way I can afford to pay to have it fixed, my parents have done as much as they can for her (tires on her car, oil changes, etc.), and her sister helps as much as she can, but there’s only so much any of us can do. Is there anybody who knows anything about air conditioners who can look at the unit she has and see if there’s anything that can be done? Any advice is appreciated.
