  I am originally from Sumter and still have friends in the area. I work for The Clorox Company. After natural disasters, we always donate some of our products to assist in the cleanup efforts (Clorox bleach to clean, disinfect water, Glad trash bags, etc...) I am trying to organize for a load of products to be sent to the area, but I need the help of people in the area that can put me in contact with someone to help coordinate it.   I work at DSS, there are alot of programs out that you can reach out to to get help. Carolina Community Action, The Cooperative Ministry, which can be reached at 803-799-3853, Catholic Charities of the Midlands (803) 254-9776, Sharing God's Love is based in Irmo and they help with free food, clothing, gasoline vouchers, utility bills and prescriptions (803) 732-3188...also if you are not able to work you need to do a recertification form with DSS, and provide them with proof that you cannot work. Google low income apartments, there are alot in Columbia. You just have to put your best foot forward and try, there is help. I will send up a prayer for you.
