Hostels near NYC with shuttle or slack pack services? I grew up hiking and camping, my partner didn't. We're both new to backpacking, and neither of us have a car. We've been camping and want to try a hiking trip. She's not fully confident in her ability to go on a hike with a full pack yet, so I thought having a shuttle option or slack pack option might be a good Segway into eventually section hiking.
We can get to NYC pretty easily. Are there any hostels with shuttles and slack packing assistance near there that we could connect with for a long weekend trip on the AT that you all recommend? AWOL has been hard for me to read in that regard and my google skills are subpar in this regard.

[Antons on the Lake](http://www.antonsonthelake.com) in Greenwood Lake, NY lists free shuttle/slackpack with overnight. Looking through my AWOL, that's the only place that offers slackpacking in New York. My honest recommendation would be to get your very basic confidence on Long Island. Do day hikes with the pack on.
Hi!
Does anyone know of a reasonable- to cheap place for a single, 63 yr old woman, non smoker, to stay in GWL for a week in the fall?
Am thinking B&B to a room in someone's home?
Thanks!
