  DC area - Seamstress recommendation I was wondering if anyone in the greater DC area has a recommendation for a seamstress. I don't need one quite yet, but would love to get some recommendations based on someone's (directly or indirectly) experience. The dress won't require much for alterations: minor size/fit adjustment, and maybe a small french bustle.

  I've used the [Marilyn Johnson Sewing Studio](http://sewingdesignstudio.com) for both bridal and non-bridal alterations (bridesmaid dress, regular dress, and blouse so far). She really knows her stuff when it comes to alterations and might be with looking into. She does custom costumes and bridal (at least from the photos she has in her work space) as well and I know she has done bridal alterations on ready-made dresses. But she's in Laurel, so that might not technically be considered "DC area."

  http://sewingdesignstudio.com Marylin altered my Vera wang gown when I picked up some last minute weight. She even restored it so I could sell it. She's amazing. She does gowns and costumes from scratch as well. The staff are all very professional and if you ask me she really doesn't charge enough.
