  Does anyone have recommendations for a nursing home in the Weed/Mt. Shasta area? My mom lives in the Bay Area and I may have to move her up here with me. She needs 24 hour care for COPD/emphysema. She doesn't have much money either. Fixed income. She has Medicare and Blue Cross but I'm hoping to get a social worker involved to help find a place either here or in the Bay Area. I knew this day would come, but it's so hard to deal with an aging, sick parent. I want to find a good place for her where I can feel comfortable that she's well taken care of. Thanks in advance for any advice or input.

  Please check out AgingParents.com....a good starting point for Boomers with aging parents. There are many issues of health, law and finances that contribute to caring for our parents. Carolyn Rosenblatt is amazing in helping to find a way through the eldercare maze. Honestly, there is no easy answer to what you need to do, but there are resources to provide you with the right questions to ask. It's such an individual thing, and, yes, it's momentous..
