Many years ago I gave my Dad a little ticking off - you see he was an art teacher/ artist and painted some amazing water colours pictures, but only for friends and family. Despite coaxing, prodding and encouragement from us all he wouldn't sell any. Well I told him was silly (or something similar) and had nothing to lose and he should give it a go.... So 20 (or more but ssh) years later I've been prodded, coaxed and encouraged and am now eating my words and giving it a go!
So this all started last year, I had a special christening present to find, but I couldn't see anything near to what I wanted. So I dusted off my sewing machine, refreshed some forgotten skills, played with some fabric and made my first appliqued name picture. The comments and praise I got firstly came from my daughter then aged 3 who instantly wanted one, a gift here, a request there and I'm creeping my way up to having made 50 pictures......
If you like what you see and would like some more info - please let me know
Thank you for looking and look forward to hearing from you soon xxx
Does anyone know any places or people that make personalised cushions? I have mum cushions off my kids but want matching mum and dad ones for on my bed!? And possibly my kids names on 2 as well !? X

I love my Janome machines. I have 2 my first not to be parted with is 20 years old and still a great machine. I too would look further than the beginners machines. It's the extra's that will keep your creativity flowing. I use mine for repairs, curtains, cushions, bags, free embroidery and appliqué. John Lewis have a good range and will let you have a go before you buy. Www.facebook.com/handmadeatthekitchentable
