  All you nautical experts - I had to look this one up. There's a restaurant here in Ventura on the harbor called RHUMB LINE. I think the owner must've had to look really hard to find this name for a restaurant. Can someone explain it without all the math?

  In navigation, technically, a rhumb line is a line crossing all meridians of longitude at the same angle. In layman's terms, it is a constant compass heading between two points on a globe or map. For instance, the rhumb line from LA to Honolulu (the course for the Transpac Race) is 246 degrees magnetic. The term is commonly used by boaters to mean, "Sail a straight, fast course directly to your destination." Thanks, Michael Michael R.
