I have a 2 year old GSP Labradoodle mix (yes I know it's a strange mix, he was an oops) that loves water and retrieves very well in the water that I'd love to train for ducks and geese. I am new to waterfowl hunting, I moved to Colorado from Arizona and have done a lot of dove and quail hunting with GSPs and still have family and friends down there to hunt with with my current female GSP. The problem with that is my Doodle mix doesn't point so I don't want to use him with her and have him flush the birds she's pointing... so I'm giving him a different job and hunting them separately. Does anyone have advice on training waterfowl dogs? Also, I am a left handed shooter and where my little 20 gauge pump is awesome for smaller birds like doves and quail I fear it just isn't big enough for geese so I was wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a left handed 12 gauge?
