This post will address an aspect of ethics regarding education providers who target a marketing demographic that live in the 'grey areas' of the law. Your input is greatly appreciated.
Here are current examples (real ones going on right now) regarding #ThaiMassage and #FascialStretchingTechniques (FST):
Thai Massage has been renamed to Thai Yoga Bodywork and is actively marketed to yoga instructors. The content of these workshops are to learn soft tissue manipulation techniques and have nothing whatsoever to do with yoga. The CE provider uses their NCBTMB provider # when issuing certificates. This person is teaching massage techniques to an entire audience of people who are unlicensed massage therapists and in effect encouraging them to practice without a license. This person even said "SHHH!!! Don't call it massage" when a student commented how good the massage felt.
The other side are the fascia people who shall not be named doing the exact same thing as the Thai people above. Teaching unlicensed yoga practitioners manual manipulations and encouraging them to practice without proper licensing.
What say you?
