  Recomendations on grain for a weanling ID? My TBs get Buckeye Safe N Easy which is low starch. Can get Buckeye, Tripple Crown, Tribute, and Purina though I prefer to stick with one of the first three brands. My one vet who breeds Percherons reccomended 3lb of Tribute a day

  He is currently on good quality Timothy hay with a some alfalfa mixed in, and is on Jump Start per vets recommendation http://equishine.com/product/jump-start-50-lb-bag/ I was thinking Buckeye Grow N Win http://www.gro-n-win.com/product-info/gro-'n-win.aspx as I know WB people who feed that to their youngsters

  My Irish Draught colt has been on Gro 'N Win plus good grass hay since weaning (he is now two... will be three on May). He has done well on it and happily he likes it. My filly (year and a half old) is also on the same feeding regimen.

  Forage should always be the primary source of nutrition but is important to ensure that their growing bodies have the nutrient balance to support growth, especially fast growing babies of large breeds, so some sort of supplementation is generally required to provide vitamins and minerals lacking in the soil/forage. That is why I like a ration balancer like Gro 'N Win... it provides nutrient support without adding a lot of calories (and you don't have to feed massive amounts of it). Best of all, even my picky little prince and princess love Gro 'N Win. :)
