  Sarah Poll I sympathise - absolutely hate swimming hats and mostly don't wear one. I was given a rather lovely old-fashioned hat by a friend that's rubber, much bigger than the normal ones, and has ear flaps (removed the strap which has poppers!) It's warm because of the little bubbles, and infinitely more comfortable that the tight ones.
