  Director's chairs are kind of hard to find these days because of the invasive nature of the Hideous Nylon Sling Chair. However, these folks have folding stools and armless camp chairs that aren't bad. The stool in particular is similar to things used in a number of periods and cultures and they pack down fairly compactly. The frames are oak and quite sturdy - you're likely to have the canvas fail before the wood does.
