Welcome to the Facebook page of RACS.
This page is a place to promote awareness of the ongoing work done by RACS and to allow for the public release of information about new legal changes with the broader goal of an informed discussion about asylum seeker policy.
If you are a person who seeks asylum
If you are seeking asylum here in Australia, or if you intend to apply for protection in Australia we want to protect your interests. We believe that it’s not in your interests to disclose your identity or make a public comment about your case, situation or your experiences while the status of your case remains uncertain. For this reason, if we believe that your comment reveals you to be a current asylum seeker whose case has not yet been finalized, we will remove your comment.
Specific or detailed enquiries (particularly regarding legal or migration advice) are best directed to telephone advice lines – please call us on a Tuesday from 10am to 11.30am on (02) 8355 7227.
For all visitors to the RACS page
We encourage an informed debate and a variety of opinions -- but we expect you to express yourself in a respectful, constructive and non-antagonistic way.
Your comment will be removed if:
- It is racist, sexist, homophobic, abusive or otherwise discriminatory or defamatory towards any individual or groups of people.
- It is threatening, encourages violence or incites hatred.
- It includes video or images that our community may find distressing (graphic violence, for example)
- It involves swearing, name-calling, personal attacks or other anti-social behavior
- Its main purpose is to sell a product
- It infringes on copyright or is otherwise unlawful
- It is wildly off-topic or spam (like the same comment posted repeatedly)
- It is in a language other than English (we can't vouch for the suitability of these posts, so when in doubt we delete them).
Repeated failure to stick to these rules may see you blocked from our page without warning.
