Where to start assembling a good knife collection? Lynne has two recommendations that WON'T cost you $300.

That Victarianox was my first legit knife purchase. It's a great workhorse. I'm currently eyeing an $82 MAC knife for my second. If you don't even want to spent $30 on a knife, go with these Kiwi knives. They're cheap as hell, and so easily replaced, but as legit a blade as you can get for $5. http://www.wokshop.com/HTML/products/cleavers/thai-kiwi-knives.html
[BIFL Request] Wok I've been getting into Asian cooking recently, and I want to invest in a Wok. Can anyone recommend a good brand or product? Lodge's Wok has good ratings, and Lodge makes good cast iron products, so their offering seems like a good choice, but I dunno...

Are either of these any good?

As chef and coming from a family of cooks and chefs going back a few generations we buy our woks from [The Wok Shop](http://www.wokshop.com/) these are legit chinese woks at great prices. I have used these in the kitchen at my restaurant and my home, boat apt for the past decade. My grandmother has one she bought in the 80's when The Wok shop was a small business in San Francisco's china town. [This](http://www.wokshop.com/store/detail.php?show=27) is what you want it comes with all the basics and is pre-seasoned, I buy straight carbon steel ones but for the restaurant, but this one is what I bought for myself and when ever I buy a house warming gift.
