  I spent a long time looking for my four year old’s mattress and finally went with Dojo eco shop which was recommended to me on this group. http://www.dojoeco.co.uk/ we have two natural latex mattress from here and have been very impressed. Flame retardant free, natural latex, wool, organic cotton outer. A small company with excellent service, highly recommend. We got the medium density natural latex which is very comfortable and is supposed to last 10-15 years

  i think POLYTHYLENE is the safest bet.. NOT POLYTHENE.. but they are really hard to find in the UK.. we got one off Amazon a couple of years ago but they don't do them any more. If you're in Brighton and you want to get anything let us know because we may be buying some more stuff and we could split postage..
