  The Chevron service station on Hollywood and Franklin is solid - Arin is honest and won't rip you off. He'll also tell you what work you really need, versus a dealer, who will try to sell you everything they can. http://www.yelp.com/biz/7-days-chevron-los-angeles I think the station recently morphed into a Valero but I believe he is still there.
