Just rereading through a book I brought for my research which contains charters, minutes etc of Weymouth borough.
In there is a list of the Inns from around the end of teh 18th c who were to billet soldiers and their mounts (so presumably before the Red Barracks were constructed and soldiers were no longer foisted upon local inn keepers.)
How many of these pubs still exist in the town, I recognise most of the names.
