  I always try to hit House of Nanking. Used to be a hole in the wall CHinese place on Kearny. Now they prettied it up, and my local friends tell me the place next door is better. But I still never miss this place. Spicy, tangy, exotic, and reasonably priced. http://houseofnanking.net/
