The professional once over of my 1994 RT 190 Independent showed most things in very good shape. However, the generator area has apparently become a haven for mice or squirrels, who have filled it with nesting material, and chewed wires. So, even though the generator started when I got it (but would not stay on), now it will do nothing at all. This also may be why the water heater has no power coming to it, as there is some wiring in that area. The service center will not look at the generator any further, and mostly left the nesting material in there, and says they have no suggestions on the water heater. They said they could start troubleshooting..... but it would be $125 per hour and they can't say they would figure it out. They really sounded pessimistic about even trying. I am discouraged. I don't know these systems much, and am not even sure where to start.
Given some warmer weather and some time, I will try to work on this myself. Does anyone have any suggestions for web sites or resources for troubleshooting water heaters, electrical power, and maybe later even generators? (And ideas on how to keep the darned mice out!!??)
