I'm looking for a handyman to install a food disposal (I'm chickening out on doing it myself!) Any suggestions? I don't have access to my computer and my mobile app no longer lets me search within the group!
Natty S. replied:
Agree with Mensch (otherwise known as Michael)...he's fantastic and lives in the neighborhood! http://www.menschwrenchchicago.com/
Kimberly S. replied:
Mensch with a wrench. He was super nice and easily installed our water filter. :)
Anyone have a contact that can install a microwave range hood? There was one there previously, new one is slightly bigger therefore a new bracket needs to be mounted. ( electrical etc. is all there already) I'm willing to pay $30-40 to get it done.
Nate H. replied:
Call the Mench with a Wrench! Michael's the neighborhood handyman. 773-7917769

Looking for recommendations for a handyman in Chicago. Need a shower fixture and new kitchen faucet installed. And maybe look at a few doors that don't close correctly. Go!

Many folks in the 'hood have referred Michael of menschwrenchchicago.com to me. Haven't hired him yet bc he's typically busy on other projects but I know I'll try him again for future things that come up as he comes so highly recommended!
Chicago: can someone recommend a handyman who I can hire for furniture assembly?
Jessica B. replied:
I have not used him but several of my friends have and really like him. http://www.menschwrenchchicago.com/
Jennifer L. replied:
I've used Mensch with a Wrench, too, and he was great! I think there are several businesses with that name, but the one that Jessica linked to is the one I used.
Who has a plumber recommendation? I need to replace a valve before I can get my dishwasher put in. Anyone you like who is reasonable and reasonably available? I would like to get this done before the end of the month if possible. A handyman is an option too if he/she knows plumbing. Thanks.

Good contractor/handyman/electrician in Lakeview/Lincoln Park? Would anyone be able to recommend a good contractor/electrician in the Lakeview area? I'm looking to get a hole drilled through a brick wall as well as some ethernet/htmi/usb cable run.
I've been looking around on Yelp, but reviews there seem pretty spotty since some people just get angry to get angry. A recommendation from a "real" person would be much more trustworthy, I would like to think.

Does anyone have a good handyman in the city? Small jobs...patching a ceiling that got some water damage, fixing a window pane, repairing a tiny hole...
Dana B. replied:
Mensch with a Wrench - 773-791-7769. I think his name is Michael.
We are ISO someone to install a replacement over the range microwave as ours bit the bullet. Many stores offer installation but it is either very pricey or must be scheduled weeks out. While my dad assured me we could do it ourselves.....I am less than confident!
Julie M. replied:
They are heavy and awkward. We had to take ours down to get it fixed, and even that part was a struggle (because you can't get directly under it because of the bottom counter sticking out). But it is possible. That said, you could probably have a handyman help you out for a reasonable fee. https://www.facebook.com/1134537536576218 Mensch with A Wrench is a neighbor and great. You might shoot him an email if you're not inclined to tackle it yourself. https://www.menschwrenchchicago.com/
Any recommendations for a reasonably priced, reliable handyman for some small projects (ex: install ceiling fan, bathroom vanity, shelves, etc)? Thank you!

Does anyone know of a handyman who could handle a small concrete job? We just discovered an unconcreted area of our basement floor under the stairs. Area measures 6'x3.5'
Julia M. replied:
You might try Michael Goldstein, the "Mensch with a Wrench." He's local, has done numerous small jobs for me (and my neighbors), and is reasonably priced and very personable. http://www.menschwrenchchicago.com/
