In regards to my music performance experience - I play guitar, but I have mostly worked as a vocalist. I have performed in a range of venues over the years, as a solo performer providing background music, or as part of a duo or trio, or as a band member. I was the lead vocalist for successful Christchurch covers band 'The Crystal Set' for six or seven years. I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some amazing musicians over the years, and I've loved performing a wide variety of musical genres - from pop, folk/country, to jazz, gospel, soul, RnB, various types of rock, Motown and disco!
I can perform a mixture of covers and originals when performing solo, most of which fits into the 'easy listening' genre, or I can provide a wider range of music when performing as part of a duo or full band (Go to www.facebook.com/sixleftstanding for more info on the band).
I have one main duo currently on the go, which is with guitarist Lee O'Connell (whom I perform with in covers band 'Six Left Standing'), and we go by the name 'Two of Six'. We play a range of rock and pop covers, mostly, with some folky stuff thrown in here and there, if it fits with the vibe of the room. We have been performing together since 2014.
Since early 2014, I have also performed countless times in a backing tracks duo with seasoned local singer and karaoke facilitator Paul Black (our duo goes by the name 'Blackie & Suss' or 'Soulcage'). We sing a variety of genres together, some as duets, and other songs as solo performances.
Regarding my DJ experience: I have DJed for numerous private functions (weddings, parties, school discos and balls), plus I have done numerous bar gigs, including a residency at... show more Harrington's Riccarton in 2014, which involved playing once a week. I also have experience as a karaoke DJ - prior to the Christchurch earthquakes, I DJed every week at the Treehouse Karaoke Bar in the CBD for a number of years.
I can provide a mobile DJ service for a range of venues/occasions. I own all my gear for this. I operate using a laptop and 'Mixmeister Pro 6' mixing software, plus two stand-mounted 15'' JBL Eon515XT powered speakers and a Mackie Pro-FX mixer. I have a smaller, single unit Roland PA system if required (this can be plugged in or battery powered). I also have a lighting rig which I use for DJ and full band gigs - consisting of a light stand and several different, high quality lights.
Karaoke or more of a 'jam session' required for your venue or function? No problem! I can facilitate both! I have 7 microphones (5 cordless), instrument leads, and my mixer has plenty of inputs to allow for multiple singers and/or instruments to be plugged in simultaneously. If it's an open mic night or private jam session I can also provide a semi-acoustic Takamine guitar (with tuner), plus a Casio CTK-691 stand mounted keyboard. Microphone stands can also be provided.
