  From the Novotel on The Terrace you can walk just about everywhere in central Wellington. Te Papa is only a 10 minute walk (find an elevator from the Terrace to Lambton Quay, then walk - the Hotel will direct you). A rental car will cost you more in carparking than what it would cost to bus or Uber around Wellington central.

  Welingtonians (or travellers to Wgtn) - I need a motel/hotel in the city, cheap but not nasty or backpackers Hi! Mrs and I will be in Welly for three nights, and I'm looking for a hotel that is in a good location, not nasty, and of course at a decent price. I was expecting around $200 for the trip on a voucher deal but that didn't work out yet. Not the nights we need at least. I've been looking at Trinity hotel in Willis St, and The Cambridge hotel in Cambridge Terrace. Just wondering if any of you folks have any opinions on which is better located, better maintained, or have a better suggestion in the same or cheaper price range? These two are looking to be around $250-$270 for three nights.

  I usually stay at CQ Wellington on Cuba St - on the Comfort hotel side of the hotel (as opposed to the Quality hotel side).
