Does anyone recommend phonics software? Who makes the best? -pete
Pete, Some here have reported the successful early teaching of basic phonics using the Jolly Phonics program: http://www.jollylearning.co.uk/. It was created in the UK, but there is a US version. I ordered a manual recently and I think it looks quite good. I think most of us feel that a human teacher is preferable for teaching phonics. However, some of us do use Earobics 1 (phonemic awareness and other auditory skills) and Sound Reading Solutions CD's for practice. I also have one that is called Read, Write, and Type, and it has been recommended by reputable sources. I have never heard of these CD's being used with kids younger than 4 or 5, though. Janis
