Looking for a campsite close to Tobermory and the Grotto. Would love a place with a beach (that we can take our dog to). Anyone been to Heron Point, Cape Croker or Mountain Trout Camp? Or other recommendations?

Does anyone have any suggestions for car camping near Tobermory?

Cyprus Lake and the Grotto are 2 campgrounds in Bruce Peninsula Nat Park. The are beautiful and on the Georgian Bay side of the peninsula which is much less windy than the Lake Huron side I was on.

We camped in Cyprus Lake last year. The campground was great...with one exception. We didn't realize that they don't have comfort stations with showers! It was actually quite funny - we were at the Pinery, and were moving from the Pinery to Cyprus Lake. Because we did the big tear down, we both really needed a shower, but decided that it was a long drive and to just go. When we got to the Bruce, and discovered no showers, we couldn't believe it. The next day we hiked the Bruce Trail and were hot and sweaty. So...our whole group (9 of us) went to the "pay for" showers just outside the park. What a god-send! and well worth the $2 for 2 minutes!

The Grotto is a rock formation/cave structure (not a campground) at the lake in Bruce Peninsula National Park. You can walk to it from the campground, Cyprus Lake.

The only drawback with the Cyprus Lake campground is that it is always very busy in the summer months. The grotto and trails are amazing but do not expect serenity.
