  Help with choosing the right camper van to travel in? Hey everyone, Hoping someone can give some good suggestions for a camper van. I'm planning to move into a van in the next year and travel up and down the west coast. Ideally I'd like to spend around $40K - $50K. But i'd spend up to $75K if needed. Main things I need: - Extremely Reliable - Overhead Air Conditioning Unit - Black Water Tank Toilet, I think. The kind that I can connect outside with a hose to empty. - On the smaller size. I just want a bed, bathroom, and refrigerator basically. Does anyone know of any companies that make vans that would fit my needs? I know I could probably customize one and do it myself. But I'd really just rather pay the money and get a finished product. Thanks everyone.

  I'd recommend checking on sportsmobileforum.com. They are your crew. This forum tends to do things on the cheap. People here will be talking about $20 amazon parts not $1000 triplett inverters. They have a classifieds on there as well as Sportsmobile.com has a classifieds section. Personally, I'd look used. Depreciation is big on a custom rig. Your $50 k will go further. Personally, I'd recommend a Sportsmobile with a RB50 layout (that is the classic Westy layout)

  Howie- There is an outfit called Sportsmobile [www.sportsmobile.com] that does pop-up roofs and "RV-type" interior conversions. They also work directly with an outfit named Quigley [www.quigley4 x4.com] who does the 4 x 4 conversions. One of the pop-up 4 x 4 vans is featured on the cover of the July issue of Four Wheeler magazine. I'd contacted Sportsmobile-they want about $4K for the pop-top. Sportsmobile also has a section of their vans, used, 2 wd and 4 wd, on their web site. -Greg
