Stacy Spensley - starting solids, i suspect some kind of allergy going on (may be environmental), he has become underweight and my milk supply has become low...concerning, to say the least.
Stacy S. replied:
So this is the Hangout I just did on Baby Led Weaning (baby led solids) but there are a ton of good links about solids under the recording. http://semicrunchymama.com/baby-led-weaning At 8 months the vast majority of his calories and nutrients are still coming from milk, so solids are actually less nutrient-dense than your milk or formula will be. He may be ready for and love eating, but it won't necessarily help him gain weight. Also, their weight gain plateaus around when they become mobile, so it's only a concern if he fell off his curve, not just if he's in a lower percentile. Some babies are just smaller than others. But if you have supply concerns an IBCLC is absolutely the right person to talk to. That's my 2 (or 4) cents.
