List your Recommended Mechanics and Locations
Have you ever been stuck somewhere and wondered where you could find an experienced, qualified and honest Westfalia...
Eric J. replied:
In Niagara Ontario Johns Bug Shop is the obvious choice(johnsbugshop.com). But I've been using Bob Berg Auto on the corner of Lakeshore, and Lake in St Catharines (1 km from my house) His son Jason is a VW nut, and has a bus, a Karman, and a Rabbit, so he's real keen on working on them. Still parts have to be ordered, so repairs take time, but the work is quality, and I feel like I can trust them.

When in the New England )Northeast MA, SE NH, or even Southern ME) check out German AutoSport in Amesbury, MA right off I-95/I-495 and Rt 1. http://www.germanautosport.com 18 Chestnut St., Amesbury, MA 01913 (978) 388-1288 Damon specializes on BMW but is great with the Dubs air and water, he works on my 86 vanagon on stuff I can't do myself. He will not do engine replacements or rebuilds as he does not have the time. He also solved my check engine light issue on my Volvo, the dealer had been raping me after 2 indy Volvo shops could not read the code. Damon is the best in my book

I purchased my 1982 Westfalia this summer, knowing that it needed a new transmission. Along with that, I ended up needing a new clutch and starter and numerous other odds and ends. I am fortunate enough to have found the most honest mechanic in the world, Ron at Bittner's Auto Repair on Concession St. in Hamilton Ontario. Ron and Manny always seemed to make the van a priority in the shop, and charged minimal labour. My son and I were able to get a few good trips out of the van this summer, and look forward to many more. Thanks Ron and Manny for making our van run, even if it is a piece of shit. Cheers
I apologize in advance, but, I couldn't find the earlier post.

Looking for a mechanic for front end work... and also do they charge to look at I️t? Also need the battery changed in my JEEP key fob.... ready set go....:)
David O. replied:
The battery in your fob can be done yourself. It is really easy. For the frontend work I have been going to Phil And Sons in Newburyport on Merrimac Street for more then 10 years and never had a bad job done on anything. They have also never tried to sell me anything that wasn't needed. I have gone in asking for work that someone told me had to be done and they found the problem to be a cheaper fix than what I was told by the other person. They never charged me a fee to look at my car and they are reasonable on there fees.
Lea C. replied:
Agree with Phil & Sons. How do I get my fob apart to install new battery?
