Hi I'm in Amsterdam the beginning of December and staying at a cool hostel, was wondering if any recommendations of more local places to eat and possible dreamesque...

At the website (veganamsterdam.org) you'll find lots of info! What kind of coffee shop do you mean? For coffee Koffie ende Koeck is a nice place for instance. For cannabis, there are no coffee shops which are particularly vegan-friendly, or as far as we know.
Coffee Shop Recommendations PLEASE!!! Hey Reddit!
I'm going to Amsterdam next week for the first time and I have to admit I'm super excited but I have a problem...

Go to "Dampkring" on the street "voetboogstraat". It's my favourite shop by far :) Quality of the weed is excellent, atmosphere is really chill and friendly. Plus they have a coffeeshop cat which pops up every once and a while. I have to admit it gets kinda busy and there is not always room to sit, but it's definitely worth giving a shot!

If you want a decent breakfast with your smoke than most certainly go to Barneys...

I can speak from experience that Abraxas is comfy enough to spend the entire afternoon in. There are plenty of others. Check out this list: http://www.wunderland.com/WTS/Andy/Pano/Gallery6/Coffeeshops.html edit: Come visit us at /r/amsterdaments for more questions.
Visiting Dam next week, recommendations for a quieter coffee shop with good bud? First of all apologies for another post about Amsterdam, searched the sub but mainly...

I recommend: 137 (Jordan near Central station), Funky Munky (Jordan), De Graal (De pijp) - more with locals Easy Times (Leidseplein), Happy Feelings (Leidseplein) Here is a link to a guide I posted a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/uktrees/comments/44 gjgz/the_ultimate_amsterdam_experience_guide/

The Doors was nice and chilled when I went a couple years ago

Check out 'Rusland', fairly central but was always fairly quiet when we were there. Very chilled out. My girlfriend is similar to yours and she liked the friendly atmosphere, although I was bitten by a rather un-friendly cat in there!

cheech and chongs was always quiet as fuck when I went. They play football games on the tele and have wifi access if you ask nicely enough for the password (I find that making a large purchase at the same time helps with that). I went in there daily when the missus had a powernap (it was a short walk from our hotel). You'll be greeted in dutch to begin with but the staff do speak english once they realise you're not a local.

But weed from grey area Take it to "lost in Amsterdam"
kitreia replied:
Abraxas is great for a laid back atmosphere, from the last time I went to Amsterdam (in 2011). The bud, however, is average though they don't really mind you rolling and toking your own. They have a great selection of teas, hot chocolate, etc.
drunkpharmacist replied:
Try posting this to /r/amsterdaments.
Kemps replied:
I enjoyed the Mellow Yellow - can't recall exact location but 2 floors, table football, couple of arcade machines, good bud, great staff. If I ever go again I'm straight there.
weed_and_vinyl replied:
I can't recommend Rookies enough. Super quiet super chill with a nice selection and edibles.
Mediocre-username replied:
The Dolphins I think it was called, cool coral reef interior upstairs then another room downstairs. Try their Tesla Power.
Rigsby420 replied:
1 e Hulp, coffeeshop Vondel & Kashmir Lounge are my go to outside of the Grachtengordel.
tree-a-way replied:
Katsu is nice as is Kashmir longer, both pretty empty when I went!
Where else could you have a pre-party in a coffee shop? Not just any coffee shop either, The Bulldog is one of the most famous in the world.
How could this be better?...

I'm off to Amsterdam on Aug 19th with some mates, What is good to do? Any recommendations from my fellow ents? We're not looking to just sit and smoke in coffee shops...
KickAssIguana replied:
I just left yesterday. I recommend smoking a lot, and trying things you normally wouldn't. I smoked hash for he first time and it was pretty epic. Also if you're going to be buying a piece, don't go to a gift shop that sells cheap crappy shit, and don't buy one from a coffeshop, as they are overpriced, go to a headshop and you can find some good deals, like a glass on glass no frills bong for 15 euro. In any case make sure to have fun, I smoked 10 different strains in the 3 days I was there, and I'm definitely going back.

I'm also interested in this, I'm going with a few friends in September and I need some stuff to do (other than smoke up)
Bongmasterspliff replied:
Never been, but I would recommend checking out the barneys farm coffeeshop just cause I know from experience that they have some crazy strains.
Slobbs replied:
You definitely have to rent a bike. Bikes out number cars 100-1 and are a fast, convenient, and a great way to see the city. And fries and mayo are the best munch I've had in my life. It's life changing.

I ordered a milkshake in a graffiti bar, or whatever that place called, the one that allows people to make graffiti, not with spray paint because it's not an open space but you can smoke inside, I wouldn't go there if it wasn't :D pretty cool to check out, anyway it's the best milkshake I've ever had, or I might be biased as I was in the range of [9]-[10] whenever I wasn't sleeping, good times. Therefore I recommend you to smoke a shit load responsibly and take care. But I agree, I was there for only 2 days and i feel like I missed out a lot of things. 2 days wasn't nearly enough to fully explore this "heaven". Next time it'll be longer and I'll take the advices here

I just got back! Goto a smartshop, get some Atlantis magic truffles and go trip out in Vondelpark! Also go to Stone Cafe for a great breakfast! Go chill out in the Hill Street Blues bar. Walk through the red light district at different times of the day (big differences between day and night!) Go to a sex show! I reccomend Moulin Rouge!

When I went with friends we all got pretty stoned and then went to the zoo, i'd recommend it
EggSalad1 replied:
Nice one people. The people i'm going with have been before so we know vaguely which coffeeshops to go to. Its the other bits we need like art galleries or music venues.
Ents, does anyone of you know if tourists are still allowed to buy/smoke in coffee shops in Amsterdam? After all the kerfuffle with the smoking laws over there no-one...
CrucialXP replied:
Yes, you should be able to. http://www.amsterdamstay.com/smokingnban.html
on previous visits De Rokerij was always one of my favorite coffee shops because of its ambiance (the middle eastern vibe location, for example)... now that it is closed...
