Inkheads of Amsterdam: need tips! Hey peeps!
I’ve been looking for a while now for a tattoo artist in Amsterdam to get a custom piece done.
I already have a reference...

And here I was hoping this post would be about fountain pen ink!
crokychips replied:
I think salon serpent has the best artists. They also host a lot of amazing guest artists.
SombreroBoy replied:
My roommate is a tattoo artist. She will reply today. I'll PM you her contact details now!

https://instagram.com/selinactattoo?igshid=msbue5 rtjz83 She's pretty good with female characters. Don't know about speed of reply but that shouldn't be a consideration for ya, some artisrs are booked months in advance and are busy - a busy artist is a good sign. But what youve been told is true, Amsterdam has very few good tattoo artists which makes getting large pieces a challenge if you want something specific

I loved my experience at ink district with Federica! They always do their own spin on a design, they never copy the photo directly. I love the tattoo I got there - the studio was clean, decently priced, the artist really kind and professional, never rushing me and making me feel really relaxed! My other tattoo I got at Hollywood mark, which I wouldn’t recommend simply because I found the owner super unprofessional and rude (he got REALLY angry when I asked a different artist than him to do my piece because their style matched with what I wanted better).
psychotante replied:
Maybe try Ink District Amsterdam (they have an instagram page as well). They frequently have guest artists over, from all over the world, and you will definitely find the right style for you. Usually, if you like a particular artist, you write them an email with your idea and they will design a costum piece for you. It‘s a good way to receive a great tattoo, given you like (almost) all the previous work of that artist. However, don’t rush it and wait for the right artist to come along, there’s lots of talent out there :)

I had a portret done at MotorInk by the owner Celio. He’s Brazilian/Dutch. My friend had his entire back done by him and also a chest piece. Awesome artist, expensive, because he is awesome. He has a studio near Dam Square. Good luck!

Jimmy Arkenbout from Tatoo Peter! Got a basic tourist tattoo from him, but his other pieces are amazing!

Sea Shepherd has guest artists and all proceeds go to the org. Recently got ink by Bo and I love it.

I'd suggest: * Look in the entire Netherlands. There are also good tattoo artists in Utrecht, Rotterdam, etc and the advantage is that those shops will be less aimed at tourists. * Look at portfolios of specific artists on Instagram. This way, you can select the exact style you like. Here are some Amsterdam artists on IG: https://www.instagram.com/slonenkotattoo/ https://www.instagram.com/selinactattoo/ https://www.instagram.com/madeleinehoogkamer.tattoo/ https://www.instagram.com/joaann_ttoo/ https://www.instagram.com/dr.kate.tattoo/ https://www.instagram.com/albatattooist/ https://www.instagram.com/frankibrasty/ https://www.instagram.com/austris.briedis/
